ARTIST STATEMENT:

humans and their environments

“My artwork examines the tension of the contemporary world through the architecture that simultaneously demonstrates and defines the way we live. I believe the home is the perfect metaphor for the self. The home, like the self, is never in a fixed state and must constantly be maintained and repaired.

My artwork brings to life the allegorical spaces existing within the subconscious mind. Through the metaphor of the home and the self, my artwork explores the human condition— our vulnerability, but also our strength, our balance with nature, with ourselves and others, the way our relationships shape our world, as an individual and as a community. We are always building, destroying and rebuilding.

Through drawing, painting, and sculptural installations, my work captures a single moment that is beyond time- one that is simultaneously decaying and being renewed, infinity condensed. The familiar becomes fractured, traipsing the relationships between lines, shapes, and forms, and the intersections of time and space.”
